This tour to the wine area of Bordeaux is for lovers of food and wine and of course motorcycletouring. We will travel down the west of France to the famous and beautiful wine area of Bordeaux. We will learn about the various wines appelations of Bordeaux and enjoy the local wines and food in the evening. In addition to travelling through the beautiful scenic areas you will learn about the wines of the areas to include the French wine laws, grape varieties , correct glasses to use, the matching of food and wine and much more. In the evening we will relax over a meal of local delicacies. Over the course of the tour we will visit many of the famous wine routes: The Chateaux Road : The region between the Atlantic to the West and Europe' widest estuary to the East, stretches over 80km north of Mordeaux to Point de Grave. This exceptional area is home to Bordeaux's most prestigious Great Classifieds Growths ( 1855). The Hillside Road: If there is a wine -growing region where visitors can be sure of a warm welcome, The Blaye-Bourg area is it. These two regions, situated on the right bank of the Gironde estuary , off charming landscapes of rolling vineyards overlooking the river, little villages and stone houses, Romanesque churches, famous archaeological sites and nostalgic little harbours. The Heritage Road: The millenary vineyards of this region, on the right bank of the Dordogne, are renowned worldwide. Saint Emilion , called the hill of 1000 wines is the most famous, not only for its elegant wines bit also for its town now classified by UNESCO as part of the worlds heritage. Pomerol (800 hectares) is one of the regions gems. The magnificent rolling hills of the Cotes de Castillon region offer superb views. The Cotes de Francs region with its vine covered hillsides is dotted with ruined windmills The Fortified Towns Road: The Entre-Deux-Mers , the largest of the Bordeaux Vineyards, owes its name to the two rivers surrounding it. This region is an open invitation to a trip through history-typical fortified towns and abbeys dating from the middle ages- and through literature in the footsteps of its famous writers, Montaigne, Mauriac and his Chateau at Malagar. The Graves Road: This region stretches from the South of Bordeaux to Langon , to the west of the Garonne down to the vast Landes pine forests which act as natural protection. The wines of this region can be characterized by their diversity and their prestige. The reds are both powerful and full bodied, the dry whites elegant and luscious, the sweet wines opulent and luscious. In addition while travelling to/from Bordeaux we will also pass through some of the wines areas of the Loire valley. This Tour is a real food and wine experience.
